Setiap negara bercita-cita untuk memiliki superkomputer. Kenapa? Kerana ia adalah aset penting dalam memacu kemajuan saintifik dan teknologi. Superkomputer boleh digunakan dalam pelbagai bidang, seperti:

Kajian cuaca: Membantu dalam meramalkan cuaca dan bencana alam dengan lebih tepat.
Perubatan: Meningkatkan ketepatan diagnostik dan pembangunan ubat-ubatan baru.
Kejuruteraan: Membolehkan simulasi dan reka bentuk yang lebih kompleks.
Keselamatan: Meningkatkan keupayaan pertahanan dan keselamatan siber.

Malaysia, dengan universiti dan kolej yang banyak, masih belum memiliki superkomputer. Ini adalah sesuatu yang sangat mengejutkan, memandangkan negara-negara jiran kita seperti Indonesia, Thailand, Singapura, dan Filipina sudah pun memiliki superkomputer masing-masing.
